How to float walls and partitions in FFXIV

Lately, I’ve been getting lots of questions and comments on my how-to videos for housing glitches in Final Fantasy XIV.

So today, I wanted to answer one of the most common questions I hear about it: How can you float things like partitions?

It’s a little more time-consuming than most glitches out there, but when you get down to it, it’s really just a slightly different version of the new wooden loft glitch. This technique is an incredibly useful one for any aspiring home designer in FFXIV, and is the only way to float floor items like Hingan sideboards as well.

So without further ado, here is how to float partitions and walls (and any floor item) in FFXIV!

  1. I’m having difficulty trying to rotate a floating item as it just forces the item to be in a position that isn’t ideal, nor on the ground. I’m trying to float the southern kitchen, and it’s no bueno. Any advice?

    1. Hmm. It’s a little hard to say when I’m not sure what it’s doing or what you want it to do! I know a couple of common ones I’ve run into are that I try to place something too close to an actual house wall, which can screw up alignment, and I’ve had trouble with floating things only to have them not rotate into the place I was hoping for, which usually means taking it back down and realigning it. If you want, use the Messenger chat to send me a screenshot and I’ll see what I can do to help 😊

  2. has anyone tried to let the Verdant Shelf Partition float? tried all day long today and i didn’t get it to work :/
