It’s hard to believe that October is already bearing down on us, but 2023 has really flown. And for me and my fellow bloggers, that means it’s also just about time for our annual Blogtober challenge.
I’ll admit I haven’t done the best with challenges like this in the past—my first Blogtober, I managed about two thirds of the posts I had planned, and my challenge for National Decorating Month in 2022 made it to just shy of three quarters.
So third time’s the charm, I figure!
If you’re not familiar with Blogtober…
…which I wasn’t, by the way, the idea is that you publish a new post every day throughout the month of October. As someone who’s been painfully inconsistent with her publishing, it does feel a little more intimidating this time around than it has in the past, but I’m also reaching a point where it’s less about perfection and more about improving my scores, if you will.
So starting on October 1, I’m going to do my best to complete the Blogtober challenge!
And I’d love for you to join me.
Personally, I think the best part of Blogtober isn’t the amount of writing (which can feel like a lot, for sure). It’s that it’s about challenging yourself to be creative every day, to stretch the muscles we use for blogging in new and different ways.
And I think we could all do with a little of that every now and again.
So if you’re up to the challenge, and want to push your creative mind, I’d love for you to come along with me on this year’s writing adventure!
My advice for Blogtober
- Plan ahead! The challenge is to write a new post every day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan ahead—and knowing generally what you want to talk about takes the pressure out of coming up with topics on the spot.
- Prep your images. If you create your own, it might help to batch them ahead of time so you aren’t scrambling every day. It’d also be worth looking into CC0 image sites to help with any you need.
- Have fun! I know I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to be perfect through a challenge like this, but the point is to have fun and do your best, so just remember that if you find yourself feeling stressed.
