I’ve been sitting on this for months now, so it feels surreal to finally say it. I’ve been working on putting together a shop for both the Girly Geek Blog and my stream, and today, it’s officially out in the world!
Building a cozy corner, in-game and IRL
Coziness has long been a theme around here. My goal whenever I’m working on an in-game build is to create as cozy of a space as I can, often with clutter and mess to make it feel real.
But it didn’t start with gaming.
It’s always been my belief that the spaces we build around us, even the pixelated ones, say something about how we want to feel.
And looking back, it’s clear that ever since the very earliest days of the Girly Geek Blog, coziness has been a core part of what I do. It was the sweaters and blankets and reading socks littering my Instagram feed. It was the snacks and drinks I’d choose for my gaming sessions.
Those real-life choices became the influence behind the decorating choices I made when I discovered in-game design.
Understanding intention in design
Over the years, my cozy obsession turned into a lot of clutter for me and poor Sekan. I needed every fuzzy blanket, every knitted sweater. But that got overwhelming.
Moving really put a spotlight on the issue of clutter for me. I can’t even tell you how many knick-knacks I bought for Instagram photos, stuffed into drawers, and then completely forgot they existed until I wanted to use those drawers for something else.
Because of that, I’ve been more focused on finding the right cozy things instead of as many cozy things as I can.
That’s meant things that are:
Aesthetic…
Instagram and social media platforms like it teach us that how something looks matters. And I do think that’s true—colour, pattern, and even visible squishiness can all affect how something makes us feel.
…but practical
Ultimately, aesthetic means nothing if you can’t use it. If it’s not something I’m going to reach for on a lazy gaming night, then it doesn’t belong.
Calm
I’ve always erred on the side of less texture and less pattern purely because it’s overwhelming to me. If there’s a lot going on, I don’t know how to reconcile it—but there’s peace in minimalism.
This is the spirit behind what I’ve created with the shop. It’s not a big, flashy collection. It’s a handful of pieces that I could see myself using and enjoying on a daily basis—and that I thought maybe others like me would, too.

The Girly Geek Blog is coming up on 10 years next spring, and my stream is almost three now. I still remember celebrating when the blog was that age—I joked about having a toddler, and here we are again.
I know many of you reading this have been around for at least a large chunk of that time. You’ve seen change, you’ve seen growth, you’ve seen me through a lot of personal evolution—and you’ve helped give me the confidence just to keep doing this on a daily basis.
I’ll let the individual pieces speak for themselves, but in the meantime, I just wanted to say thank you. This could only happen because you’ve helped me give it somewhere to exist.
