FFXIV housing overhaul: Item counts, dyes, and furnishings I’m excited about in patch 7.5

The end of the Dawntrail era is in sight!

Just this morning, we officially got patch 7.5 for Final Fantasy XIV, the last major patch before Evercold hits in January 2027. Of course, we’ll have other smaller patches between now and then, including the debut of beastmaster in September—but for now, we’ve got some major changes to enjoy.

One of those changes was a big one for housing.

Starting today, houses have new item limits—and oh boy, does this change some things for me. Here are the new numbers for my fellow housing enthusiasts:

Size Before Now
Apartment
100
150
Small
200
300
Medium
300
450
Large
400
600

And of course, with this change, I’m already scouting new furnishings to fill up my home! Here’s what I’ve found so far.

What you'll find here

But first: The changes to dyes

Through my research for this post, I learned that it looks like dyes changed with this patch. So you don’t need to have individual colours anymore; as long as you have standard spectrum dye, you can dye your stuff any basic colour your little heart desires.

Including any that would have been previously locked behind ARR tribal quests, from the looks of it.

You will need wide spectrum dyes for some of the fun bolder colours that have come out since the Firmament, and it does look like you’ll still need specific dyes for the general-purpose colours since you also get those from the online store.

But overall, it looks like this will be much kinder to our poor inventories!

The new dark minimalist interior

Okay, so this isn’t specifically a furnishing. But in a way, it does cover five different furnishings, so I think it still counts.

With 7.1, we got the ability to choose the interiors of our houses, including an all-new minimalist interior that I’ve been obsessed with. It removed pillars, got rid of the structural framing around stairs, and just generally made it much easier to build without needing placement glitches.

Now, with 7.5, we’re getting a dark aesthetic version of the minimalist interior, and it looks stunning. I only just redid my house and I’m already tempted to do it again!

This interior does introduce matching interior items, including a partition, a partition door, lights, wallpaper, and flooring. And even on their own, they’re rather nice. So I might have to play around with them!

Where to get it: Your house settings, or from housing merchants for the individual pieces

The lattice window seat

This furnishing, one of the winners from the 2025 furnishing design contest, has to be my favourite so far. It’s an adorable little bay window that’s fully transparent, so you can build a lovely garden view outside.

And here’s why that’s exciting.

Before, something like this window would have needed at least 23 slots just to make the black window framing and a flat view. You might have been able to get away with fewer slots using the cracked arched windows, but you still would have had a flat view using either white screens or a phasmascape.

You would have needed dance poles, flooring mats, and tons of partitions.

Now, though, it’s just its own thing. It’s one slot, and it doesn’t limit you to a flat view. You can build gardens, add ponds, whatever you like.

It is dyeable (which may be how I found out about the dye changes because I apparently don’t read patch notes anymore), and that leads me to the one downside of this furnishing so far: The bench.

The wood structure changes when you dye it, but the bench will stay as a bold teal colour. So if you’re using it, you’ve either got to work with that colour or hide it with a bunch of cushions the same way you would with a hand-me-down sofa.

The Everkeep round table

This is a furnishing I like for its potential, not what it actually is. As is, it’ll make for an adorable side table, or even potentially a modern replacement for all the cafe tables I have scattered around our FC house.

But what really caught my eye with this one was the base.

The moment I saw it, I could see its potential as a modern chandelier with lights dangling out of the geometric frame. I could also see it working as a ceiling detail or even a modern art sculpture if you have a few of them hanging down!

It’s also dyeable, and what dyes is the geometric frame, which is pretty much ideal.

The Everkeep chest

I don’t have much of a specific reason for liking this furnishing—I just like it. It’s a cute little chest of drawers that looks like something I’d choose for our own house. In fact, it’s a similar style to the desk I have for my work computer!

I don’t even think I’d choose to dye this one, though it looks like you can change the white drawer at the top. I like it just as it is!

The Everkeep kitchen counter

I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I’m going to actually use this piece at any point. But I love the idea of it, and let me tell you why.

Kitchens are one of the most neglected rooms in Final Fantasy XIV housing. More often than not, if you’re building a kitchen, you’re on your own.

Want cabinetry? You’ve got to build it out of shelves and partitions that will consume a ridiculous number of your housing slots.

Want handles on your cabinets? You better find a way to do it without using a wall item that might snap to those partitions you used for the cabinetry.

Want a cooktop with burners? You’re going to need table mats and flowerpots and you’d better hope they don’t snap up to the top of your counter.

And a sink? Forget about it. Even the simple sink was the wrong height for its matching cabinets.

Now, though, it’s all just there. It may not have a custom layout, but if your goal is balancing aesthetic and item count, it’s a great piece to have.

It does look like it’s dyeable, and what dyes are the cabinet faces. I do wish there was a way to change the colour of the neon, since I don’t work with a lot of blue and we did get that with the neon light furnishings, but I don’t hate what they did.

The garden mood lighting

We’re getting string lights for our gardens. Need I say more about this one?

Where to get it: Unclear at the moment, but it looks like a dropped item. So it could come from a dungeon, treasure maps, or submarines.
