Do you know what time it is?
That’s right, it’s officially time for Blogtober! All month, I’m going to be putting up a new blog post every day, just because I think I can. If you want to participate, too, don’t forget to check out my first post on Blogtober!
Why I’m doing it
As someone who writes a lot in her day job too, I’m really excited about this challenge.
I’m sure my fellow writers know this pain too, but one of my biggest struggles ever is fatigue. It’s something I run into on a daily basis, especially with the sheer volume of writing I do (it’s not uncommon for me to write upwards of 4,000 words per day just for work).
And when you’re writing that much, it gets really easy to run out of steam.
Normally, my boss and I (we’re the only two writers on the team) have a system where we come up with games and challenges to make it fun again. It always works, and I love doing it—but when I discovered Blogtober, I realized I’ve never tried using the same tactics on my blog.
So I’m really excited to see if it works the same way here as it does at work!
My goals for Blogtober
My perpetual struggle with blogging in general is that it always comes back to feeling like something I have to do. It has nothing to do with how much I enjoy it—because I spend all day writing, and especially because I’m home for the long haul now, it ends up feeling like more work.
It actually took me a while to realize that that was always going to be a struggle I face, so now I’m testing out ways to give myself a more sustainable solution than going through bursts of creativity.
So because of that, I have a few big goals for myself this month:
- Remind myself of how much I love writing and creating
- Try out some new content styles that I think I might like writing
- And have fun celebrating my favourite season!

I’m super attempting to this year… I don’t know how far I’ll get but we’ll definitely find out!
Good luck! I’m skipping out this year as I’m just getting into the swing of once weekly posts, but I’m hoping to try next year. I am, however, considering blogmas which is just as intimidating.
